The Division of Geriatric Medicine is dedicated to advancing education and training in the care of older adults across a wide spectrum of health and social needs. Graduate Medical Education programs in the Division of Geriatric Medicine:
Geriatric Medicine Fellowship – This one-year ACGME-accredited program provides comprehensive training in the care of older adults across multiple settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, long-term care, and home-based care. Fellows work closely with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex medical, functional, and psychosocial issues commonly faced by aging populations. The program emphasizes leadership, scholarship, and advocacy in geriatric care.
Residency Training – The Division of Geriatric Medicine provides enriching clinical experiences for internal medicine and family medicine residents through electives and inpatient consult services. Residents gain exposure to geriatric assessment, cognitive evaluation, end-of-life care, and interdisciplinary care models, at several training sites, including Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix, the Phoenix VA Medical Center, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, and affiliated long-term care facilities.
