The mission of the Division of Palliative Care is to improve the quality of life for patients and families facing serious illness through compassionate, patient-centered care that addresses physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs.

We believe every patient deserves care that honors dignity, comfort and personal values. Our team is dedicated to helping patients and families navigate serious illness with clarity, compassion and support.

Our Palliative Care team provides:

  • Expert management of complex symptoms — including pain, dyspnea, nausea, anxiety, agitation and delirium.
  • Goals-of-care discussions and advance care planning.
  • Assistance with complex medical decision-making.
  • Facilitation of family meetings and communication support.
  • Support during critical illness and prolonged hospitalization.
  • Guidance regarding hospice and end-of-life care when appropriate.
  • Collaboration with specialty teams — including ICU, oncology, neurology, transplant, geriatrics, trauma and surgical services.
  • Emotional and psychosocial support for patients, families and caregivers.
  • Interdisciplinary support services — including spiritual care and music therapy.
