AZ-HOPE Scholars Program

The Arizona Health Opportunities Pathways to Excellence program is for students interested in strengthening their competitiveness and successful admission and completion of allied health and professional degrees. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the program aims to help individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds (economically or educationally), with special emphasis on individuals from rural and medically underserved communities.

Students and aspiring students to any Arizona allied health or health professions programs are eligible to apply (non-U of A students are also encouraged to apply).

Native Tuition Scholarship

Thanks to a generous gift from the Arizona Community Foundation, full coverage of tuition and fees is available for Native students from federally recognized tribes. Up to three students per year in this program will also be matched with a Native faculty mentor, a dedicated learning specialist and an alumni network.

Pathway Tuition Waiver

Donors to the University of Arizona Foundation help reduce the out-of-pocket cost to all matriculating Pathway students. Donate and choose “COM-Phx Pathway Scholars Program” to support future Pathway students!

Primary Care Physicians Scholarship

The University of Arizona’s Primary Care Physician Scholarship Program aims to help address the urgent need for physicians within Arizona by covering the tuition associated with medical education for those willing to practice primary care in a rural or urban underserved community in Arizona. Students may apply in the spring semester of their Pathway year for this program that begins their first year in medical school.

Primary Care & Rural Physicians Grant

As part of a $3.9 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Pathway Scholars who are committed to pursuing primary care roles in Arizona are eligible to apply for full Pathway tuition funding, as well as up to three years' medical school tuition. Successful grant awardees will have experiences with rural and underserved populations and communities, a personal and vested interest in this area of medicine and a willingness to commit to a rural and underserved primary care career.
