The Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (OEDI) at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where all students, faculty, and staff feel valued, respected, and supported. The office focuses on creating a culture of belonging that ensures individuals from all backgrounds have access to high-quality medical education. This commitment is reflected in initiatives designed to recruit and retain students, promote inclusive curricula, and provide professional development opportunities that highlight the importance of diversity in healthcare. We also work to ensure that students develop the skills necessary to serve diverse communities effectively, equipping them to become physicians who are culturally competent and compassionate.

In addition to supporting academic success, the OEDI team emphasizes community engagement by creating pathways for students to make a meaningful impact on the health of their communities. This includes mentoring programs, outreach activities, and partnerships with local organizations that aim to improve health outcomes for Arizonans. By focusing on both educational opportunities and community service, the Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion plays a key role in shaping future physicians who are not only skilled in clinical care but also committed to addressing health disparities and promoting equity in healthcare delivery.
