Welcome to the Arizona Primary Care Physician Workforce Group (PCPWG)

Part of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Department of Family, Community, and Preventive Medicine and the Office of Community Engagement. Arizona is facing a critical shortage of primary care physicians. The PCPWG was created to help us coordinate statewide efforts, align resources, and support bold, collaborative strategies to strengthen Arizona’s primary care workforce.

About the January 2025 Summit

In January 2025, we hosted the inaugural Arizona Primary Care Physician Workforce Summit, which was well-attended and helped launch our HRSA Primary Care Training Enhancement grant work. The summit brought together educational leaders, healthcare organizations, and policymakers from across Arizona to discuss urgent strategies for strengthening the state’s primary care physician pipeline. The meeting was led by a team of statewide primary care academic leaders, setting a collaborative foundation for our future work. We facilitated a follow up Summit II on September 16th, 2025 and have committed to the effort.

Next Summit – Save the Date
