Connect 2 Mentors
The Office of Health Care Advancement (OHCA), with the goal of inspiring the younger generation, invites high school students—sophomores and juniors preferred—to attend a one-day program. In this program, student mentors will share advice on the various educational pathways that lead to a successful career in healthcare.
High school students will have the opportunity to learn about professions such as nursing, physical therapy, medicine, pharmacy, public health, and more. Through storytelling and a speed networking activity, participants will gain insights into the challenges of these fields. Additionally, they will learn best practices for writing a personal statement for their college applications. This program is free of charge.
The one-day experience will take place on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at the Health Science Education Building, College of Medicine, University of Arizona, located at 435 N. 5th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
For high school students to be considered for the 2025 fall program, please apply: 2025 application. The deadline for the application is Friday, October 3rd, 2025. The selected students will be notified by Friday, October 17th, 2025.

The Irene H. Bailey Cardiology Academy
The Irene H. Bailey Cardiology Academy is another educational opportunity for high school students interested in exploring a career in Medicine. This program promotes awareness of heart disease, informs everyone about the importance of heart education, and encourages students to become advocates for their communities through the application of epidemiology concepts.
The Irene H. Bailey Cardiology Academy (IBCA), which will be held during the spring break of 2026 (Tuesday, March 10th - Thursday, March 12th, 2026).
The Irene H. Bailey Cardiology Academy (IBCA) is to provide high school students who have an interest in science with the opportunity to:
- Learn and apply science concepts and acquire skills by doing hands-on laboratory and clinical activities.
- Explore the variety of academic programs and career choices in the fields of science and medicine.
- Develop mentoring relationships with graduate and medical school students, scientists, clinicians and other health care professional.
For high school students to be considered, the application will be available during the first week of January 2026 (after winter break).
