Barriers to Transgender Health Care Lead Some to Embrace a Do-It-Yourself Approach

Ricardo Correa, MD, assistant clinical professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine – Phoenix, spoke about the “high” amount of bias in the health care community against trans people. However, he added, even those who want to refer patients to practices where they can receive gender-affirming care may be unable to, because the patients are based in communities where there’s an absence of physicians who are able to provide adequate help.
