Goals and Initiatives

FF1. Target and facilitate collaborative team-based research and associated extramural funding opportunities.

  • FF1a. Recruit in clusters where funding and opportunity align, building business case for incremental funding which highlights downstream revenues.
  • FF1b. Support and promote the existing dedicated research institutes/centers (e.g., Phoenix Children's Research Institute, Translational Cardiovascular Research Center) that focus on interdisciplinary themes or health challenges with which the College has relationships.

FF2. Grow College development capabilities to support incremental investment aligned to education and research priorities.

  • FF2a. Grow development and alumni infrastructure to increase philanthropic opportunities (prioritizing endowed chairs and professorships, buildings and spaces naming rights) from grateful patients, alumni and other donors.
  • FF2b. Increase outreach and alignment to major corporations, foundations and other community and government granting agencies that can provide incremental funding.
  • FF2c. Enhance scholarship funding to enable qualified students to afford medical education.

FF3. Grow affiliate funding in support of mutually aligned goals and initiatives.

  • FF3a. Identify affiliate growth opportunities where the College can support through faculty recruitment, clinical research integration or learner expansion based on establishing incremental funding.
  • FF3b. Establish joint performance-based incentives in support of strategically aligned priorities such as clinical research, graduate medical education (GME) and other mission-aligned initiatives.

FF4. Improve data, technology and operational infrastructure productively to deliver maximal impact.

  • FF4a. Perform analysis by functional area (e.g., process, technology, performance) to determine opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • FF4b. Develop clear standards of performance to ensure efficiency, productivity, accountability and tracking of performance relative to expectations.
