Goals and Initiatives

LM1. Distinguish our College of Medicine – Phoenix brand as the premier medical school and AMC in Phoenix. 

  • LM1a. Align College programs of distinction with Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix (Banner – University Phoenix) priorities, community health needs and destination programs.
  • LM1b. Establish comprehensive marketing campaign and annual report focused on College areas of distinction and as an AMC.

LM2. Raise prominence of clinical affiliates through College strengths.

  • LM2a. Increase quality offerings such as grand rounds and continuing medical education (CME) events.
  • LM2b. Increase professional development and outreach to the scientific and physician community.
Key Accomplishments
  • Niraj Chavan, MD, MPH, will join the College as the inaugural chief for the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - June 2026.
  • Jennifer Anger, MD, will join the College as the inaugural chair for the Department of Urology - May 2026.
  • Peipei Ping, PhD, will join the College as the new chair for the Department of Biomedical Informatics and chief AI and Data Science officer - March 2026.
  • Abha Singh, MD, joins the College as the inaugural chief for the Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Internal Medicine - January 2026.
  • First College annual report (24-25) published - December 2025.
  • College name on the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building (BSPB) - December 2025.
  • Faculty development series launched - November 2025.
  • Pre-application submitted to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to form the College of Medicine - Phoenix Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) - October 2025.
  • 16 faculty graduated from the 2025 LIFT cohort - October 2025.
  • Nicholas Theodore, MD, MS, joins the College as the new chair for the Department of Neurosurgery - October 2025.
  • Samuel Galvagno, DO, PhD, MS, MBA, joins the College as the inaugural chair for the Department of Anesthesiology - July 2025.
