Why the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: Case volume and resident autonomy, as well as a comprehensive robotics program utilizing the most up-to-date advancements, make PISR an ideal surgical training program. Graduating residents are well-suited to immediately begin practice without reliance on fellowship training, should they choose to do so. There is little in terms of a general surgery program that U of A does not provide, making this program an easy choice for an ideal residency.

Why the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: First and foremost, the people. The attendings are phenomenal at what they do and dedicated to teaching us to become better surgeons, and the residents are like an extended family - we laugh together, teach each other, and help each other get through the toughest of times. We also get fantastic training in robotics and trauma/acute care, and graduates come out ready to go straight into practice or match into competitive subspecialties.
