Why UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: Great diversity in general surgery training, I was especially drawn towards the rural track and alaska rotations.

Why UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I loved that this program has many female surgeons and I felt like this would be a place where I could find mentors and feel respected and grow as a resident surgeon. Also, my husbands family lives part-time in Alaska so this was a great fit for both us.

I knew after my interview day that this program would not only train me to become an excellent General Surgeon but also support my personal development and encourage me to reach my goals.

Why UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: After meeting Dr. Preston and the rest of the program staff during the interview cycle it was a "No Brainer" decision. Our attendings are here to help us become the most prepared surgeons we can be after residency, and the experience we gain through our variety of rotations we come out prepared for anything and everything.

Why UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I wanted a surgery program that offered both academic opportunities and excellent technical training. I was immediately drawn to the camaraderie between residents and the autonomy given to residents. The Alaska component of our training is also unmatched across the country.
