Traditional Blessing Ceremony

We continue to welcome students from all walks of life and commemorate our diverse campus cultures. On Tuesday, October 1, the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will host a Blessing Ceremony to begin the academic year and celebrate all Phoenix Bioscience Core students of American Indian/Alaskan Native/Indigenous descent. 

All campus colleagues are welcome to attend this ceremony! The ceremony will be held in an area of the Grand Canyon — the outdoor area between the Health Sciences Education Building (HSEB) and the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building (BSPB). During the program, attendees will be acknowledged by traditional healer, Mr. Miguel Flores, and offered words of encouragement and blessing as they embark upon, or continue, their educational journey. 

Light refreshments will be served.
