2026 Highlights

John Kavanagh and John N. Galgiani, MD

On February 16, the Arizona State Senate recognized Valley fever awareness with a proclamation emphasizing the importance of education and early diagnosis.

During the session, state Sen. John Kavanagh recognized John Galgiani, MD, founder and director of the Valley Fever Center for Excellence, for his leadership in advancing Valley fever research.

Congratulations to Drs. Askar, Gomez-Abundis, Carpenter, and Emir Kobic on their recently published case series, “NDM-5 and siderophore receptor mutations drive high-level cefiderocol resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae: a case series”(PDF). The study highlights critical findings in antimicrobial resistance research.
