The Division of Infectious Diseases is evolving from a primarily clinical service into a comprehensive academic division dedicated to training the next generation of clinicians and advancing new knowledge through research.
Our clinical research activities focus on common and challenging infections — including Staphylococcus aureus infections, resistant pathogens and Valley Fever. For Valley Fever research, we partner with Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and collaborate closely with John Galgiani, MD, director of the Valley Fever Center for Excellence at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
We are also part of a research network established by infectious diseases pharmacists at the University of Pittsburgh, enhancing opportunities for multicenter collaboration.
Currently, we are preparing a joint project with our Division of Rheumatology colleagues to improve immunization uptake among immunocompromised patients.
