The Clerkships allow students to learn in the clinical setting and become active members of the health care team.

Family, Community and Preventive Medicine; Internal Medicine; Neurology; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Pediatrics; Psychiatry and Surgery clerkships occur during the third year. Students also have the opportunity during their third year to participate in a parallel curriculum called the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC).

Emergency Medicine clerkship occurs during the fourth year. 

The clerkship experience includes interactive learning sessions on academic half-days, simulation activities and clinical site participation. Clinical assignments include both urban and rural sites.

Our major clinical partners include Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix VA Health Care System, Valleywise Health Medical Center, HonorHealth, and other important partners such as Yuma Regional Medical Center, Gila River Hu Hu Kam and underserved clinics throughout the state.

Students are challenged in areas of medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, critical appraisal and quality improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as societal awareness and responsiveness.
