Overview

The mission of the Division of Sports Medicine and Concussion is to provide recreational, club, high school, college and professional athletes of all ages the highest quality sports medicine and concussion care available.

And our vision is to continuously improve the understanding, management and rehabilitation of sport-related injury through patient care, community outreach, clinical research and collaboration with community health care providers.

In addition, with the support of the Banner Foundation, we provide thousands of low cost or free baseline concussion tests per year to local high school and club sports organizations.

The Division of Sports Medicine and Concussion is also the home of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Sports Medicine Fellowship, which provides training for two primary care sports medicine fellows per year. The Sports Medicine Fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME without citations and is supported by multiple faculty members within the College of Medicine – Phoenix's Departments of  Internal Medicine, Family, Community and Preventive Medicine, as well as Orthopaedic Surgery. The faculty and fellows provide coverage and sports medicine expertise for Grand Canyon University club sports, as well as to local high school and club sports organizations.
