Announcements
- The 2023 Banner Annual Academic Review (BAAR) is open for BUMG-employed faculty to enter their annual self-assessment. The deadline is January 31. We encourage you to put your CV into UA format and upload it into your BAAR.
- The next deadline to submit your clinical promotion dossier to your faculty coordinator is March 1, 2024.
- Congratulations to the following Banner – UMG faculty who received a peer-nominated faculty award at the recent general faculty meeting! And thank you to everyone who nominated a colleague faculty member.
- Kam Hunter, MD, PhD (Family, Community and Preventive Medicine) received the Faculty Community Service Award.
- Nafis Shamsid-Deen, MD (Internal Medicine) received the Faculty Inclusive Excellence Award.
- Renee Hebbeler-Clark, MD (Internal Medicine) received the Outstanding Peer Mentorship Award.
- Jennifer Nelson, DO (Internal Medicine) received the Early Career Excellence in Education Award.
- Brenda Shinar, MD (Internal Medicine) received the Excellence in Teaching in Graduate Medical Education.
- Fred Wondisford, MD, joined us as the new dean of the College of Medicine - Phoenix. He started his new role on October 2.

Recent Promotions
The following Banner – UMG faculty received a faculty title promotion:
- Wilber Su, MD, will be promoted on January 1 to clinical professor on the clinical series track in the Department of Internal Medicine.
- J. Peter Weiss, MD, will be promoted on January 1 to associate clinical professor on the clinical series track in the Department of Internal Medicine.
- Christina Chrisman, MD, was promoted July 1 to associate clinical professor on the clinical series track in the Department of Neurology.
- Ali Baaj, MD, was promoted June 1 to professor on the clinical scholar track in the Department of Neurosurgery.
- Kendall Novoa-Takara, MD, was promoted June 1 to clinical professor on the clinical series track in the Department of Internal Medicine.
