It is the policy of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (COM – P) that when COM – P students are supervised by faculty or residents on required clinical experiences who are simultaneously supervising students from another accredited medical school, the following be applied:

To ensure accountability for educational quality, physicians supervising and assessing COM – P medical students must have a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Faculty must have documented faculty development and orientation on the Educational Program Objectives and assessment for COM – P.

The COM – P learning objectives and required clinical encounters must be taught regardless of the requirements of other programs in which faculty might be involved. Sites are only selected if there are sufficient patient resources and faculty numbers, so that COM – P students are able to meet their defined objectives and required clinical encounters and have appropriate levels of supervision and assessment. Comparability of sites is reviewed as part of the required course and clerkship annual review process.
