The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (COM-P) follows guidelines established by the University of Arizona to obtain consent for commercial or promotional recordings of students. It is the COM-P policy that photographs and/or video recordings of students will be intermittently obtained and used for educational and research purposes. Additional photographs and/or video recordings of students may be obtained for commercial or promotional purposes with student consent obtained at matriculation. Students should verify with clinical sites about the site’s specific policies regarding photography and video recordings.
Recordings of certain simulation activities, by COM-P, for the purposes of academic assessment are required and students may not opt-out. These videos and/or audio recordings are a part of the educational record, and subject to the privacy provisions under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). If you have questions regarding the video recording of classroom simulations, please contact the Office of Pre-clerkship Curriculum for Years 1 and 2, or the Office of Clinical Curriculum for Years 3 and 4.
