An important goal of the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix's Clinical Research Support Services is to establish mutually productive relationships. This is accomplished by understanding the sponsor's priorities and goals, meeting timelines, as well as supporting an efficient contract process to facilitate timely execution of sponsor agreements.

Clinical Research Support Services believes that working in concert with industry partners will result in more clinical trial opportunities for the college's faculty, access to the latest drugs and medical devices for our patients, increased patient access to novel therapies and more opportunities for collaboration in the beginning stages of product development.

Help and Questions

Over 50 investigators are currently participating in clinical research at the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix. Many of the faculty have extensive experience conducting trials and are interested in partnering with industry sponsors on important protocols. The UA College of Medicine – Phoenix and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix are committed to advancing biomedical innovation and furthering the knowledge of health care professionals. Our research helps health care professionals around the country and around the world to better treat many diseases, conditions and disorders.

It also gives our patients access to new diagnostic techniques, treatments and therapies. Our physicians have expertise conducting studies through the spectrum of drug and device development, including Phase I, II, III and IV studies under investigational new drug criteria, as well as device studies under investigational device exemptions. As an academic institution, we are also focused on pioneering new techniques, treatments and therapies through investigator-initiated studies.

The UA College of Medicine – Phoenix's Clinical Research Support Services was created at the beginning of 2017 to further the mission of the college by developing and supporting the infrastructure related to clinical and translational research. By providing high level guidance in the process of clinical/translational research conduct, Clinical Research Support Services seeks to enhance the excellence, scope and efficiency of these research efforts by facilitating and integrating activities already in place and by fostering clinical and translational research activities in areas where they are not yet fully developed.

Clinical Research Support Services focuses on four key areas of service, including:

  • Regulatory affairs.
  • Institutional infrastructure.
  • Financial Management with an in-house clinical trial management system.
  • Liaison with the UAHS Research Administration.

Clinical Research Support Services can assist sponsors with the following:

  • Identification of investigators.
  • Coordination of timely response to site feasibility questionnaires.
  • Obtaining information about general research operations, including institutional experience and capabilities.
  • Regulatory preparation for study approvals and external audits, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
